Last Blog of the Year???

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments

I’m back!  The holiday season has kicked my ass.  The play had it’s curtain call on Dec. 20th.  I’ve had a bunch of auditions, 2 callbacks for a Minnesota Lottery Commercial Voice Over but did not get it and I joined/subscribed to www.performertrack.com to help me keep track of everything.  It’s worth checking out.   Here’s the list of Auditions I’ve been on; Shark Navigator Vacuum,  Weight Watchers, Nature’s Path Organic Bread, Nickelodean Film Promo, Cable Vision, Lee County Tourism.  I am currently “on avail” for a Nature’s Path Organic Bread commercial after having the callback on Monday.  I believe yesterday’s Shark Navigator audition went pretty well also.  At the beginning of December I created for myself booking one more project before the end of the year.  Being on avail for Nature’s Path brings that possibility closer.  I will update this blog with any news.  That’s all I can muster up to blog at the moment.  It’s rainy and gloomy out and I need a nap, but I can’t take one because the work day is not done!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

UPDATE!! Received a call from Sharon, my agent, who’s on vacation in Florida that I booked the Nature’s Path Bread spot.  It shoots January 5th.   It’s been a magical end of the year.  I need to remember what I’m doing here and keep doing it.

Blog is back up after a Month. First Reblog catch up!

T minus 10 days and Counting!

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever opening night is November 27th at the Sierra Madre Playhouse.  Rehearsals have been going pretty well.  Tonight we are doing a Run Through of Act One.  I was starting to get the pre-performace fears and jitters and self esteem issues that a lot of actors get before opening night.  The biggest fear is blanking on the lines, but that’s impossible if you know what your intention is and you are connected to the material.  I feel a lot better now because I was reminded last night that this is FUN, yeah FUN and PLAY, that’s why I do it.  Funny how I take myself too seriously sometimes and forget that.  I need to really let loose with this character, and they only way to do that is to have fun with it.

Last week I had a straight to callback audition for a Qualcomm audition at Joe Blake Casting and also a Voice Over audition at Renita Casting for a Minnesota State Lottery Audition.  I was called in again for Minnesotta State Lottery a couple days later, even though the call backs are not scheduled until the 18th.  The first time through was great, the second time I felt a bit off and could have let the improv creativity go further, felt a little thrown off by the person I was partnered with who occurred to me as really nervous and unsure of herself.  I’m letting both of these auditions slip from my mind now, well because that’s what I have to do after each audition so I don’t drive myself crazy.

About 100 postcards went out to Casting Directors on November 8th.  No auditions have resulted yet.  In fact, I don’t think I have generated any auditions from post cards but I keep doing it because I know it works for other people and this last year I have booked enough things and sent out a set of postcards every few months so I know they are least seeing my picture over and over.  I will cheer when they start paying off!!

I’m thinking of taking pics with Dana Patrick again.  http://www.danapatrick.com/ Non-casting directors seem to love the pictures I have right now (taken by Melinda Kelly), but they aren’t getting me through the door with actual casting directors.  Sometimes I use the old ones from Dana, and they work pretty well, but my hair is quite a bit longer now and I think I can take even better pictures with her.  She costs a pretty penny, I need to save up some dough!
