Laryngitis and Lots of Auditions

I knew on New Year’s eve I was getting sick, but I was hosting a party at a friend’s house and decided to suck it up. It was a fun time, but the next morning I had no voice. The morning after that I still had no voice. I spent 4 days whispering or writing notes on post it notes when I needed to communicate. I also had a very bad phlegmy cough. Acute case of laryngitis. I received an e-mail in the midst of the sickness that I was given a voice over job, thank goodness the client was understanding and let me send back the audio after I had recovered. I also had to turn down a hosting gig audition, job paying $ 10k. All better now, except a tiny bit of raspiness. I’ve had no time to relax after the laryngitis was gone. 3 auditions on January 8th and one on January 9. One yesterday and one today;
- HBO Promo – Lisa Fields Casting
- Mazola Cooking Oil – Jeff Hardwick Casting
- Novartis – Armstrong Casting
- Snakes of Justice(pilot)- Doron Ofir
- Talk show with Spike Feresten – Francene Selkirk Ackerman
- Peter T. Nichols Esq. – Broadcast Casting
My 4×6 proofs are finally back from my manager’s office. After a misunderstanding about them getting mailed to me I went to pick them up at the PO BOX where Midwest receives their mail. I have 7 pictures to retouch and put up on ActorsAccess and LAcasting. Their favorite picture that they want me to reproduce is also my favorite picture, which makes me really happy. Must get done by the end of the weekend!! I will be posting them up on my website as well. I’m looking forward to seeing how the new pictures will work.
Yesterday, I committed myself to get rid of all my credit card debt after Chase decided to double my interest rate “due to current market conditions and desire to increase profitability on your account.” It really sucks because I always pay on time and have a really good credit score. What this means I will not be going to martial arts class for about 6 months and generally not spending money on anything I don’t need. I know a lot of people are having a really bad financial troubles right now. I’m lucky enough that all I need to do is cut back a little and buckle down.
It’s January 14th, and it’s 85 degrees and sunny out. It’s good to live in Los Angeles.
