Audition for iCarly

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008 | Uncategorized | No Comments

I received a call from my cool manager at 11:30 this morning for a co-star part on iCarly, playing Gibby’s mother in the iGo Green episode.  Two whole lines!  Seriously though, I was really excited and still am.  I crave co-star credits on my resume like a fish flopping in the desert sands needs water.  I got there 30 minutes before the audition and parked right on Sunset across the street from Nickelodeon Studios. It was hot outside and I had the jitters.  I sat outside the coffee shop nearby for about 10 minutes to breathe and ask myself “why the hell are you nervous, don’t you understand being nervous is your way of self sabotage?”  Well, it may not be self sabotage if I can not let it show on camera.  Then I checked the time and proceeded across the street. I signed in and saw that they saw about 8 women before me.  Ah! A familiar name, Joan Blair, haven’t seen her in a long time too bad I wasn’t scheduled for an earlier time, I could have said hi.  So I fixed my hair in the mirror and patiently waited.  I was called in 10 minutes later and slated for the camera, said my two lines and I was done! Voila! Fingers crossed.

Get A Clue is up, Hooray!

Hey, I look pretty good for a pissed off secretary.  It was so great to work with that gang… very professional. I’m grateful and looking forward to all 50 episodes.  Check it out!

Audition for Fall Out Boy Music Video and Nothingness

Monday, September 15th, 2008 | Uncategorized | No Comments

Last Thursday I had an audition for a Fall Out Boy music video at David Kang Casting. Chaos! Complete cattle call. I walked into the building and there was a table set up with a woman behind it asking each one of us to sign a release before going upstairs to the audition.   Apparently they were shooting a reality show about casting directors. I was called in for Businesswoman in Park, along with lots of others.  The two women running the audition seemed overwhelmed. One was really soft spoken and no one could hear her or understand what she was saying. The other seemed a bit crabby, was angry that the people from groups not being seen at the moment gave her their headshot and size card before she wanted it.  She held up my headshot as I’m standing next to her and says “Who the hell is this?”  How absolutely unprofessional.  I grabbed the headshot and looked at her and said “Who the hell is this?”  She didn’t seem phased.  I avoided the reality cameras for the most part, deciding to give one funny grinny look at one of the camera men as I stepped into the audition room. We were asked to hold up a piece of paper with our name and “number”, say our name, show our profiles and then leave the room.  During the actual audition, I had the reality show camera in my face as well as the casting director’s camera.  An unidentified man walked in as it was turn for me to say my name eloquently or something like that and walked right infront of me, then infront of the casting directors camera as it was rolling.  I was perplexed as to the reason why they didn’t just pick the people they wanted from their pictures.  It was like auditioning for extra/background work.  My guess would be a ready and willing supply of free actors for the reality show, congratulations David Kang!  Yes, I still like David Kang, he’s cool and calls me in from time to time.  What a very “Hollywood” experience. I did not get that gig, it already shot this last Saturday and Sunday.  I haven’t gotten a  gig since July, and it seems so long ago.  Something in September?  You never know, but you have to keep moving forward.

I saw my Air New Zealand AD pop up in front of my face and then it dissapeared!!!

I was in my Yahoo Email account (which is a beta account, allows for chatting within e-mail, etc) about an hour ago chatting with a friend and suddenly I saw an Ad to the right of the screen that looked familiar. Holy Sh*t it was me!  It’s kinda funny when it takes a second to recognize yourself. A few seconds went by and then an another ad replaced it, too late for the people I called into my office frantically to see.  Then I kept refreshing my inbox hoping it would pop up again but I got Netflix, AARP and Insurance ads over and over instead. Where did it go?  I checked the Air New Zealand website but it was just pictures of some of the other folks at the shoot with a different theme going, “Before and After” type pictures. I’m sure it will pop up again and assure me I was not hallucinating. What a trip!  This is all fine and dandy,  but where’s that juicy challenging play or movie I can sink my teeth into? The narcissistic commercial print ride is only fun for a short time. Ha!

If you have been injured in a car accident or any other type of accident,

Yesterday I went on an audition for another one of those accident lawyer commercials.  I barely made it from Downtown to Woodland hills, took me just over an hour and they had already shut the cameras off and were packing up.  Luckily, they gave me a break and let me audition. The casting director stated I had done such a fine job last time that it was down to me and another girl, so he decided to call me in again – sweet! Well that’s cool, I’ll probably play a lawyer one of these days.  It would be a great thing to add to my reel, speaking of which I have to contact Actors Access to find out where to go to get the clips I have for now uploaded… why do they have to make the shiznit so complicated in this age of super computer technology?

Regarding the part being down to myself and one other person, it does make me wonder how many times I have been second choice… hmmmm?  That’s probably not a good thing to think about too much, rather I need to go in there being the ONLY CHOICE more often.
